DSCN9423The Law Society of Upper Canada authorizes licensed Paralegals to represent individuals in the following areas of law:
◾Small Claims Court
◾the Ontario Court of Justice under the Provincial Offences Act
◾administrative tribunals
◾Financial Services Commission of Ontario and
◾on summary conviction offences where the maximum penalty does not exceed six months’ imprisonment

What are Administrative Tribunals?

Administrative tribunals are also commonly referred to as boards, agencies and commissions. Administrative tribunals address disputes between a province and its citizens. Accordingly, administrative tribunals act as independent agencies separate from the provincial government. There are currently over 200 administrative tribunals in Ontario alone including but not limited to:

Landlord and Tenant Board
Social Justice Tribunal
Social Benefits Tribunal
Assessment Review Board
Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario
Consent and Capacity Board
